Irish artist Lucy Foley recorded her first album, Copenhagen (2010), in Brooklyn (where she lives) and now she is bringing these songs and new ones alive onstage. Her songs have been played on BBC radio and WFMU, including a live set on Irene Trudel’s WFMU show in January 2011.
Her first multimedia project, This is Where was first installed at Portora for the Enniskillen Arts Festival in 2008. She will be performing with her band at the Make Music NY festival 2012 in Washington Square Park.
Singing songs in which people sit on dungheaps and gaze, yearn and fall apart but don’t go quietly, she performs with great energy and charisma. Her music is a whirlwind of wurlitzers, guitars, clarinets, deep bass, synths, pots and pans.
Lucy’s new live multimedia show, Songs For People I Will Never See Again premiered at apexart, New York in May 2012. Live music, stories, incantations, recorded composition, video and photographs weave through a spoken word narrative to celebrate the living and wake the dead.
“A confident, dynamic and often dramatic singer” (New York Music Daily).
“Refreshing” (Cluas music blog)
